Asenovgrad, known as Little Jerusalem because of its many churches and chapels and as City of Brides because of its formal dress shops, is actually the largest non-regional town in Bulgaria. A number of our recommended routes in the Rhodopes pass through it, and the people of Plovdiv often go there on the weekend. That is why we have selected for you some establishments that were recommended to us by the locals and those who often visit it.
Salasha Restaurant
Salasha Restaurant-BBQ is a place for meals, meetings, wine and music. The cozy and unpretentious heartiness of this truly wonderful venue has a capacity of 100 seats, and a summer cool garden with up to 250 seats. Regardless of whether you feel like eating something in a hurry or want to have fun with colleagues and friends, the Salasha restaurant is the place where you can have a delicious meal in peace and comfort and escape from the hectic everyday life for a while. There you’ll find a rich menu, composed and designed with flair and imagination. Its whole concept is based on meat dishes cooked on charcoal. Vegetables are also grilled and this is felt in the taste of everyone's favorite kyopolu, peppers, zucchini and more. Various salads, juicy barbecue, chicken, pork, veal, lamb, fish specialties and freshly prepared home-made desserts give every customer the opportunity to find their favorite food.
They also have an outdoor children's corner for lots of games and smiles.
Chinara Restaurant
The interior is nice and cosy, with folk elements, and there is a cool summer garden outside. The menu includes traditional dishes and homemade desserts. There are delicious lunch specials every day. The establishment is suitable for meetings with friends, personal and family celebrations. There is a separate corner for children. Note that they open after 4 pm during the week.
Vito Restaurant
Here you will enjoy intriguingly presented fresh products with a superb taste. Their menu offers a wide selection of food with a wide variety of fresh salads, freshly made dishes, fruits and desserts for every taste. The excellently prepared and served food, selected drinks, pleasant music and refined surroundings will make you feel cared for and satisfied.
When you're in town, be sure to also stop by Nico's Cakes, which, although they now have locations in Plovdiv, still have their charm in the smaller town. Their story began right there, in the pastry shop, where at first they just made a few cakes a day. Subsequently, with persistence, hard work and a delicious assortment, they managed to expand their shops in the country, but still remain synonymous with quality. According to their website, as of 1st March 2021, they also have the most modern base for confectionery production in Bulgaria. It is located in Asenovgrad and is equipped with machines from leading world manufacturers.
