The history of the popular establishment dates back long before its reopening and transformation into Kasapi at the beginning of this year. The building itself was constructed in 1952 by the residents of three villages and was given to the local community to turn into the first restaurant in the area. Since then, it has been the district’s go-to space for celebrating life's greatest joys, meeting friends, or simply enjoying a good grilled meat.
When the owner, also a local resident of the district, decided to revive the idea, his goal was always to preserve the concept and tradition of gathering people around long wooden tables to eat together, serve high-quality meat, and turn every dinner into an experience. That's why it's no surprise that alongside modern gourmet presentations of dishes, you can still taste recipes from ‘the old notebooks’, just as they were prepared over half a century ago. From personal experience, we can confirm that their Tatarsko kyufte is juicy and perfectly seasoned, literally melting on our tongues.
The entire team at the restaurant is genuinely dedicated to the ideology of clean, dry-aged, high-quality meat. Everything served, whether pork, beef, duck, steak, or minced meat, is dry-aged in their special 24m³ chamber—the largest of its kind in all of Bulgaria. Their front display offers the richest selection in the city under the hills, and the supply comes from local, eco-certified farms, selecting the best breeds for meat production. The restaurant's meat consumption is impressive, with beef being the guests' top choice. Kasapi is also the perfect place for families with children, as the restaurant’s children center is huge, spacious, and always staffed with animators to entertain the little ones, making parents' visits even more enjoyable. Just nine months after its opening, it has become the city's favorite location, especially for children’s birthday parties, as the staff is very accommodating to all sorts of activities—from classic games with beloved cartoon characters to organizing various craft workshops, art activities, and clubs.
During the warmer months, guests can enjoy the greenery of the large garden located in a natural park, and the interior is divided into several halls, allowing for various types of events. Musical evenings are often organized on-site, aiming to surprise the guests of the restaurant with interesting and different performers and even DJs.
