The first weekend with working bars and restaurants a month and a half after the declaration of the state of emergency in Bulgaria is sunny and full of hope that things are improving. As early as St. George's Day, Kapana began to slowly return to its usual rhythm of life, and to date, almost 100% of everything is open.
Although they are slowly opening their doors, all owners are still quite cautious and urge us to be conscientious and to observe the measures of hygiene and distance. The staff works with masks and gloves. The chairs and tables are disinfected after each client, according to the order of the Minister of Health. Tables should be a meter and a half apart, customers should not be in close proximity and there can’t be more than four at one table, unless they are a family. Serving inside is not allowed. For entering an establishment for ordering at the bar, if it isself-service, or going to the toilet, wearing a mask by the client is mandatory. The responsibility in this case is individual, not of the staff of the given place.
The situation on Main Street is not the same either, as until a week ago the tables and chairs were sadly tucked in a corner and it seemed unthinkable for us to drink coffee again in the spring sun. Although at a distance there is again a queue for ice cream, and laughter and noise are heard more and more often.
However, it should be noted that not all places decided to bring out tables and chairs at a distance of 1.5 m. Hemingway, Memory and Dolce Fellini still only offer home delivery. This is also the case with Torro Grande and Toro Boulevard and Stenata, so if you want to try something from their menu, order by phone or online.
Neighborhood restaurants and bars have also opened their gardens and are now welcoming their eager customers.
It only depends on our self-discipline to be able to enjoy a drink outside again and to see friends, albeit without hugs and kisses. Let us be responsible, because for everyone - owners and customers, the release of the measures is just an occasion to look forward with hope, but without grandiose plans and fanfare. And hopefully soon we will enjoy the carefree days together again!
