The Krichim Palace is the Bulgarian royal hunting residency which is not located in a town area. It was built on land once possessed by the Sultan which is a remnant of the historical “Great Bulgarian forest”. The centuries-old oak trees of the Krichim Forest, offering magnificent natural landscapes with rich flora and fauna, captivated Knyaz Ferdinand, and he decided to create a hunting park.
The garden spans about 300 acres and is home to a wide variety of plants and animal species – pheasants, Mexican turkeys, and even the South American rhea. Particularly impressive is the lake with water lilies, where boats floated back in the day.
A few years ago, the palace was officially opened to visitors, and the beauty of this place, the fairy-tale views, rich nature, unique architecture, and many historical references will make your walk truly memorable.
However, between September 6 and October 1, we give you another reason to plan your visit, this time for an evening stroll. Every day except Monday (with the exception of September 23), from 8:30 PM to 11:30 PM, the park can be explored, allowing you to be enchanted by the incredible spectacle created by Whisper of Lights. It is a captivating combination of art, lights, colors, sounds, and nature, transforming the unique route into an illuminated fairy tale designed for an optimal sensory experience.
It feels as if you are walking through an enchanted forest, but instead of witches and evil spirits, there is only beauty and magic. From a colorful field through a marine world to a tunnel of fireflies – the team of creators has prepared over half a million lights, which will leave you with a smile on your face and a desire for more.
Whisper of Lights is suitable for the whole family, and many of the installations have special areas for photos, allowing you to capture this unforgettable experience.
The Krichim Palace is located in the village of Kurtovo Konare, about 20–30 minutes by car from Plovdiv. You can buy tickets online or on-site, with prices at 20 BGN for adults and 10 BGN for children under 18.
