Tatsuya Yoshida (Ruins / JP) Live - Post-Culture Stage Plovdiv
Whenever Yoshida Tatsuia's name is mentioned, it is inevitably referred to as the "absolute master drummer of the Japanese underground". He was born in 1961 in the northeast of Japan - Kitakami, a prefecture of Iwata (the least populated area in the country after Hokkaido). From the late 1980s to the present day, he has been a creator and participant in some of the most remarkable formations you can think of. Of course, we put the Progressive-Hardcore Jazz Duo Ruins as well as Korekyojinn first, but let's also not forget that he is the last drummer of Painkiller by John Zorne and Bill Laswell (surrendering Mick Harris in this position) as well as one of the musicians who participated in the latest version of the Swedish Progressive-Team Samla Mammas Manna of the late Lars Holmer. Here we can add Yoshida's drums to the neo-rock classics Zeni Geva as well as his powerful presence in many albums and tours of Acid Mothers Temple, which we also saw on Bulgarian territory this autumn. He is a longtime drummer and the free-jazz quartet of piano player Sako Fujii, with which he also has two duo albums for John Zorn's Tzadik label. His own label is called Magaibutsu. In Bulgaria, he arrives for three concerts (in Sofia, Veliko Tarnovo and Plovdiv) as one man band with his program Ruins Alone - an unforgettable one-hour voyage through strange and strangely crafted rhythms combined with noise, strange keyboards and vocal exorcism. Don’t miss it!
