In the last few days, the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine has been the world's hottest issue, and while all decisions about its future are made on a political and economic level, everyone can help the thousands fleeing repression and bombing.
One of the organizations we think of as soon as it comes to help is the Bulgarian Red Cross. In Plovdiv, the donation collection point is located at 48 Stoycho Mushanov Street. At the moment, they accept:
- New clothes and shoes;
- New bed linen (or disinfected)
- New and/or very well-preserved warm duvets (and blankets);
- Hygienic materials;
- Tents, lanterns, batteries, generators
Most urgent are the needs for:
- New men's, women's and children's clothes and shoes (with a label from the manufacturer);
- Bedclothes;
- Warm blankets;
- Hygienic materials (disinfectants; wet wipes; packets of wipes; diapers for babies; sanitary napkins; soap; shampoo; shower gel; toothpaste; toothbrush, etc.)
Their Facebook page adds the information that so far, they don’t need and don’t accept food donations.
Donations from individuals are accepted every day of the week (including Saturday and Sunday) from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. For details and information: phone 0800 180 54.
If companies want to donate you can phone 032/62 71 63 for details and information.
In case you want to contribute with food, you can do it in the volunteer point to the Ukrainian community under the hills on 65 Iztochen Blvd., entrance from the parking lot, every day 9.30 am - 6.00 pm by calling Elena at 0882977154. They accept:

A coordination unit has been established at the Municipality of Plovdiv, the purpose of which is to provide assistance to citizens of the Republic of Ukraine who have sought help on our territory. The regional administration of the city of Plovdiv also announced on March 1 the opening of a coordination center Plovdiv-Ukraine. The idea is to bring together and distribute the efforts of all institutions, including businesses in the city and region, to take on a possible wave of refugees. The center will work with a 24-hour telephone number for complete information - 032 605 550. They are in contact with the community of Bessarabian Bulgarians in Ukraine.
